How 2016 put pressure on the Electoral College

On Monday, the 538 members of the Electoral College met in their respective states to cast votes to confirm Donald Trump as the next president of the United States. But this year, the presidential candidate who won the popular vote by a significant margin did not win the Electoral College, raising old questions about a system that’s usually taken for granted.
