Ann Patchett on how independent bookstores build community

Ann Patchett is a co-owner of the Parnassus Books, founded at a time when bookstores were disappearing. Jeffrey Brown speaks with Patchett about her latest novel, “Commonwealth,” a story that she says hits close to home.
