Walter White was a mixed race child and the great-grandchild of President William Henry Harrison. But he identified as African American and was instrumental in founding the Atlanta Chapter of the NAACP. He went on to become the national executive director and saw a number lawsuits during his tenure, like Brown v. Board of Education. But his dedication to the cause was demonstrated years earlier.
