Harry Landers has guided Portland's famous International Rose Test Garden for 25 years. He has increased the garden by more than 7,000 rose plants and needs an army of volunteers to tend the 650 varieties across 4.5 acres of blooms. Portland Parks & Recreation gets hundreds of new roses free every year from rose companies in exchange for providing research and evaluating which varieties grow best.
