Israeli troops leave Gaza as long-term truce efforts resume

The last Israeli ground troops withdrew from Gaza, having largely completed the destruction of Hamas-built tunnels. Palestinians used a 72-hour cease-fire to venture out for food, water and supplies, and to survey the damage after a month of aerial and ground attacks. Palestinian and Israeli delegations arrived in Cairo, while other regional powers began work on a lasting cease-fire.
