In this animated video extra from the documentary Oil & Water, Hugo Lucitante, a member of the Cofan tribe of the Ecuadorian Amazon, recalls his first airplane journey when he was a 10-year-old. He’d been sent from his remote village in the jungle to Seattle to be educated in the U.S., in hopes that he would return to lead his tribe into a better future.
