The photographer John G. Zimmerman travelled the Jim Crow south for both LIFE magazine and EBONY in the fifties-- he was one of a handful of white photographers who did so at that time. Now, some of his photos have been re-discovered, and they shine a new light on Wilson, North Carolina. Carol Jackson has the story.
