Alfred Larson grew up in southwest Idaho during the Great Depression and still vividly remembers the first bluebird he saw while working as a ranch hand. Decades later, Al was inspired to join a growing movement of citizen scientists who over the past three decades helped reverse bluebird declines by setting up a network of nest boxes designed to provide nesting habitat for this emblematic bird.
