As the nation marks the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, a Baton Rouge man relives the night he had to stand guard over Kennedy’s body. Civil Rights icon Reverend T. J. Jemison has died at age 95. Among his many achievements is the Baton Rouge bus boycott. Louis Gosset Jr. on the 1853 memoir by Solomon Northup, “12 Years A Slave."
