Water continually cycles from land, to ocean, to atmosphere and back to land. Because storm water runoff picks and carries pollutants, a Durham Water Quality Engineer is studying if rain gardens and cisterns installed in 109 homes can improve the water quality in a stream. Engineers can help society by developing technologies to limit pollution and prevent degraedation.
