The first telephone companies figured if it could work in Wyoming, it could work anywhere. And if it didn’t work, well, it was only Wyoming. The state became a laboratory for telephonic experimentation, welcoming barbed wire phone lines and the world’s first broadband wireless internet network. These are the people who dialed the state in.
