SO ONE OF THE THINGS WE WORKED ON WAS LOOKING AT THE TRADITIONAL AMERICAN SCYTHE.
YEAH.
THIS SCYTHE FROM AMERICA HAS A STEAM BENT-WOOD HANDLE, WHICH WOULD HAVE BEEN VERY HARD TO REPRODUCE IN UGANDA BECAUSE THEIR WOODS DON'T BEND WELL, THE TROPICAL WOODS DON'T BEND SO WELL.
SO WE USED THE TRADITIONAL STYLE FROM EUROPE, WHERE THEY ADD A HANDLE TO THE SIDE, AND IT STILL GIVES YOU A GOOD FEEL AND GOOD, BALANCED DESIGN.
MMM.

BUT THIS IS ALL CAST IRON.
THIS IS CAST IRON AND IT WOULD HAVE BEEN RUN WITH A MOTOR, SO WE HAD TO ADAPT IT AND MAKE IT A HAND-CRANKED MACHINE, SOMETHING THAT WE COULD DO WITH SIMPLE WOODWORKING AND SOME WELDING TECHNOLOGY.
