President Obama has signed executive orders calling for background checks on all gun sales and bans on military style assault weapons as part of a package of steps to reduce gun violence in the wake of the Newtown Connecticut school massacre last month. In Texas the Lieutenant Governor is calling for state funded firearms training for teachers.
