The most recent unemployment rate in Robeson County is 12.1 percent. That's a pretty tough number, but it's the lowest unemployment mark for the county since 2009. And Robeson is already one of the poorest counties in the state. Ironically, the economic downturn could be leading a new generation of local students, and workers in training, to higher places than ever before.
