Give Me the Banjo: From Kazakhstan to Kentucky

Abigail Washburn's journeys to China have made her a 21st century Marco Polo of music, mixing folk traditions of east and west. "Kazakh Melody" comes from a tune by a Kazakh musician they heard in a Chinese city, performed here with an old time song "Banjo Picking Girl" (aka "Goin' Round the World") popularized by Lily May Ledford, with some awesome bluegrass licks provided by Bela Fleck.
