About the Hispanic Heritage Awards

Join PBS, the Hispanic Heritage Foundation, and host Leslie Grace as we celebrate 35 years and a new class of Hispanic Heritage Award honorees. Started by the White House to commemorate the establishment of Hispanic Heritage Month in America, the Hispanic Heritage Awards are among the highest honors given to US Latinos by Latinos.

Past honorees include Justice Sonia Sotomayor; Dolores Huerta; Fania All-Stars; Celia Cruz; Linda Ronstadt; Carlos Santana; Gael Garcia Bernal; Salma Hayek; Pedro Martinez; John Leguizamo; Dr. Ellen Ochoa; and right up to the continued relevancy of recent winners such as NASA Engineers Christina Hernández, Clara O’Farrell, and Diana Trujillo; Carlos Santana, Bad Bunny, Ivy Queen, Zoe Saldaña, Residente, Selena Gomez and more inspiring figures.

This year, the Hispanic Heritage Foundation honors: Grammy Nominated singer-songwriter and youth advocate Omar Apollo (2023 Inspira Award); first Latino to lead a major English-language news network & Chairman of NBCUniversal News Group Cesar Conde (2023 Media Award); rock icons Café Tacvba (2023 Arts Award); fastest growing Mexican-American food brand in the US Siete Family Foods (2023 Entrepreneurship Award); and pioneering reggaetonero Wisin (2023 Legend Award). With performances by Alejandra Guzmán, Omar Apollo, Café Tacvba, Leslie Grace, and a Centennial Musical Tribute to Tito Puente featuring Pedrito Martinez, Milly Quezada, Alex Cuba, and Tito Puente Jr. With Special Appearances by Michael Cimino, Francia Raisa, Constance Marie, Annie Gonzalez, Sasha Calle, John Leguizamo, Pati Jinich, Xolo Maridueña, SBA Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman, Nicholas Gonzalez, Richard ‘Crazy Legs’ Colón, and Ángel Manuel Soto.
